The Girl Elara and her Dream

 GIRL ELARA

Once upon a time, in a quiet village surrounded by rolling hills, there lived a girl named Elara. She had a heart full of dreams and eyes that sparkled with hope. Her days were simple, spent tending to the flowers in her family’s garden, but her nights were filled with thoughts of a boy she had met by the river—a boy named Aiden.

Aiden was everything Elara had ever wished for. He was kind, with a smile that could make the darkest day bright. They had met one summer evening, and their connection was immediate, like two stars drawn into the same orbit. Under the old willow tree by the river, they shared countless moments—whispers of dreams, stolen glances, and promises of a future together.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the village, Aiden took Elara’s hand and made a solemn vow.

"I promise you," he said, his voice soft yet steady, "no matter where life takes me, I’ll always come back to you. We’ll build a life together, Elara, and nothing will stand in our way."

Elara’s heart swelled with happiness, and she believed him with every fiber of her being. She had never known love like this, and she couldn’t imagine her world without Aiden in it.

But as the seasons changed, so did Aiden. A call came from a distant city—an opportunity too good to pass up. He assured Elara it would only be for a short while, just long enough to make a better life for them. With a kiss on her forehead and another promise to return, he left.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. At first, letters came—long, heartfelt letters filled with plans for the future. But soon, they became shorter, less frequent, until they stopped altogether.

Elara waited by the river every evening, just as they had once done together, clutching the memories they had made. She told herself that Aiden was just busy, that he would come back as he promised. But deep down, a seed of doubt began to grow.

One day, after nearly a year had passed, Elara heard news from a traveler passing through the village. Aiden had made a new life in the city. He had found success, and along the way, he had found someone else—a girl with bright eyes and a laugh that filled the air.

Elara’s heart shattered.

She went to the river, the place where all their promises had been made. The willow tree stood as a silent witness to her pain, its branches swaying gently in the wind. She sat there for hours, letting the reality of Aiden’s broken promise sink in.

Love, she realized, was not always as steadfast as the vows made beneath the stars.

Though her heart was broken, Elara knew she had to move on. The garden that once bloomed in her heart for Aiden had withered, but she would plant new seeds, ones that wouldn’t be swept away by the promises of another.

And so, as the sun set on another day, she stood up, brushed away her tears, and whispered to the wind, "I’ll learn to love myself again."

And with that, she walked away from the river, leaving behind the promise that was never meant to be kept.
